Google Ads automated promotions start 12 October. Website deals go into ads
The change covers campaigns with location assets and no manual promotions. Each extracted offer runs for under 24 hours.

Google Ads automated promotions will switch on for some Search and Performance Max campaigns on 12 October, Google told advertisers in an email. From that date the system will pull coupons and deals from a company’s website and add them to its ads, unless the advertiser turns the feature off.
Search Engine Roundtable published the email on 5 October. Google says the feature will “automatically identify and extract high-quality promotions” from advertiser sites. Its help page gives an example of what an extracted offer looks like: “20% off on black sweaters”.
Google Ads picks which campaigns get automated promotions
The change does not reach every account. According to the Google Ads help page, a campaign qualifies if it is an active Search or Performance Max campaign, has location assets linked and runs no promotion assets added by hand. In practice that means businesses that use location assets for their stores.
Each automated promotion runs for less than 24 hours. Google can switch it back on if its systems check that the offer is still visible on the website. In the asset list these promotions show “Google AI” in the “Added by” column, Relevant Audience noted.
Advertisers can turn the feature off before 12 October
The setting sits at account level. The path is Assets, then Account level automated assets, then Advanced settings, where “Automated promotions” can be set to Off. Google may ask for a reason.
Google has not said which countries are covered. The help page lists no market exclusions. The feature builds on a wider push to let Google’s AI write and assemble ads, as with the move of Dynamic Search Ads to AI Max and the spread of AI Brief to more languages.
Old or expired deals on a site can end up in ads
The main risk is content the advertiser no longer wants to push. A banner left on a landing page after a sale ends, or a deal meant for one region, could appear in ads. Google’s help page suggests segmenting reports by click type to see how people use the offers.
Before 12 October, open the account level automated assets settings and decide whether Automated promotions stays on. If it does, check which offers are still live on the landing pages used by Search and Performance Max campaigns with location assets.
