YouTube Shopping is now open in the Netherlands, Google said on 11 September. Bol is the first large retailer in the affiliate programme. Dutch creators can tag products inside their videos and take a commission when a viewer buys.
The Netherlands follows two earlier launches this year. YouTube Shopping opened in Poland with Allegro, and the affiliate programme reached Germany with MediaMarkt and Kaufland. The mechanics are the same in each market. The retailer supplies the catalogue and the creator supplies the viewers.
Bol is the launch retailer and Team5pm signs up the creators
Google named Team5pm, part of the SAMY group, as the agency bringing Dutch creators into the programme. Google also said it has lowered the bar for joining, without saying what the new thresholds are.
Tagged products get 110 percent more clicks than description links
Google put a figure on the format. A product tagged inside a video draws 110 percent more clicks than the same link sitting under it in the description. Google also said payouts to creators through YouTube Shopping commissions have more than doubled year on year. Both numbers come from Google and nobody outside the company has checked them.
Kantar puts YouTube first for product research in the Netherlands
Google cited a Kantar survey in which Dutch viewers name YouTube as the first place they look before buying something, ahead of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. It added that more than 8 million logged-in Dutch users ran a shopping-related search on YouTube in June 2026.
Two features arrive with the launch. One tags products automatically using AI. The other lets a person watching on a television call up product details without leaving the video. Creators on the platform have been given more to work with lately: Watch With live reactions opened to more of them this week.
The practical check for a brand sits in the retailer’s catalogue, not on YouTube. Tagging pulls from what the partner retailer lists, so a product missing from Bol cannot be tagged by any Dutch creator, however big the channel. That listing is the thing to open before briefing anyone for the Dutch market.
