Poland’s best-known volleyball league is losing its name. From the 2026/2027 season PlusLiga becomes Tauron Liga. The energy company Tauron Polska Energia takes over as title sponsor of every professional league run by Polska Liga Siatkowki. Wirtualnemedia reported on 3 September that the deal is worth 88 million zlotys, roughly 21 million euros.

PlusLiga becomes Tauron Liga after almost two decades

The agreement was announced on 23 July and runs for four seasons, to the end of 2029/2030. The men’s top division becomes Tauron Liga and the women’s top division Tauron Liga Kobiet. The second tiers become Tauron 1. Liga and Tauron 1. Liga Kobiet. The cup competitions will be called Tauron Puchar Polski and Tauron Superpuchar Polski. Tauron has worked with the league since 2020, but until now its name sat on only some of the competitions.

Youth training gets 17.6 million zlotys from the deal

Wirtualnemedia puts the average cost at about 22 million zlotys a season. A fifth of the contract, 17.6 million zlotys, is set aside for training young players. That split is unusual in Polish sports sponsorship, where the money normally buys visibility and nothing else. It also gives the sponsor something to talk about beyond a logo on a shirt.

Plus stays in volleyball as a technology sponsor

Plus, the mobile network owned by Polkomtel, had its name on the men’s league for almost twenty years. It now moves to the role of technology sponsor. It keeps its separate deal with the Polish volleyball federation PZPS, which covers the national teams and has been extended by four years. Plus has backed Polish volleyball since 1998.

One brand now names all four PLS competitions

This is the first time a single company has its name on every professional volleyball competition in Poland. The value sits in repetition. A league name shows up in results tables, match reports, television captions and app listings every week of the season, which is exposure a normal campaign cannot buy. The cost is patience: fans and reporters usually keep saying the old name for a season or two. Sponsorship in Poland has also drawn more scrutiny lately, as the Polish Olympic Committee found when its crypto sponsorship deal leaked.
