AI ad agents. Google lets them only read, Amazon hands its AI whole campaigns
Google lets outside AI agents only read ad accounts. TikTok exposes about 400 tools, Meta is testing budget changes by chat, and Amazon's AI runs whole US campaigns.

AI ad agents get very different powers depending on whose ad account they enter. Amazon now lets its own AI run entire campaigns for US advertisers who supply a budget, products and creative. Google’s official connector for outside AI agents, updated on September 30, cannot change a single bid. Most of these tools have no confirmed launch date in the EU.
An AI agent is software that carries out tasks on its own instead of only answering questions. We checked help pages, developer documentation and company announcements from Amazon, TikTok, Meta and Google. We asked three questions of each: what can the agent change, when must a person approve it, and where does it work.
Amazon renamed its whole ad console Ads Agent on September 29
On September 29, Amazon gave its unified ad platform a new name, Amazon Ads Agent. The same day it opened Full-Funnel Campaigns to all advertisers in the United States. These campaigns cover every stage, from the first time a shopper sees a brand to the purchase. The advertiser adds money, products and creative. Amazon says its AI “handles the rest”. The advertiser only approves the creative before launch.
Amazon also showed DVA+, a four-step builder for display, video and audio ads, which we covered in our report on the launch. The steps are a goal, products, ad copy written by a model, and a budget.
Four platforms, four limits on what an agent may touch
Amazon gives its own AI control of whole campaigns, but only inside its own system. A year earlier, in November 2025, Amazon said its agent in Amazon DSP could act on plain instructions. Amazon DSP is its platform for buying display and video ads. One example was to pause every campaign with a return on ad spend below two.
TikTok lets outside assistants change campaigns directly. Its help page, last updated in August, describes an MCP server. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a standard that lets an AI assistant such as Claude use other software. The full version exposes about 400 tools, and a lighter one starts with about 40. Examples include creating a campaign, pausing an ad group, changing targeting and changing budgets. TikTok told advertisers in early October that use of its links to Claude and Perplexity had grown more than 200 percent since July.
Meta is still testing what its agent may change. At Advertising Week in New York on October 6, it said the assistant in Ads Manager now remembers past chats and a brand’s goals. Meta said marketers will “soon” be able to create campaigns and change budgets by chat. That part is a test. A separate Meta MCP server connects to ChatGPT and Claude Code, according to Meta’s developer documentation. It asks for permissions to manage ads, product catalogs and business accounts. We covered the Ads Manager news in our Advertising Week report.
Google lets outside agents only read. Its Google Ads MCP server is “strictly read-only”, the documentation says. An assistant can list accounts and pull results, budgets and campaign status. It cannot change bids, pause campaigns or create new assets.
Google and Meta require sign-off, TikTok’s help page is silent
Google’s own assistant inside the ad console is called Ads Advisor. It suggests keywords and headlines and explains drops in results and rejected ads. In its launch post of November 12, 2025, Google said the assistant applies changes only after the advertiser reviews and approves them. When an ad breaks a policy, it can draft a fix, such as a new landing page address, and waits for a yes.
Meta says previews, approvals and controls let advertisers decide what to hand over. The trade site Relevant Audience reports that every action through Meta’s MCP server needs permissions set by the advertiser and explicit approval. In 2025 Amazon also promised that DSP campaigns would launch only after the advertiser checked and approved them.
TikTok is the only one of the four whose help page sets no such rule. The page talks about workflows that run without a person stepping in at every stage. That does not prove agents act unchecked. It does mean an advertiser should confirm the approval settings before connecting an assistant to an account with live spend.
Most of these tools have no confirmed launch date in the EU
Full-Funnel Campaigns are open only in the United States for now. DVA+ is in a closed test in the US alone, with invoice-only payment, PPC Land reported. Amazon plans 35 markets in the first quarter of 2027 but has not named them. Belgium and Poland did gain campaign creation in the Amazon DSP console on September 25, along with Singapore, Egypt and South Africa.
Google opened Ads Advisor to English-language accounts. That leaves out advertisers who run their accounts in German, French, Polish or other EU languages. The MCP pages from Google, Meta and TikTok list no countries at all. For the other Google Ads changes that skipped the EU last month, see our September checklist.
Danish firms use AI eight times as often as Romanian ones
Europe also starts from very different places. Eurostat found that 20 percent of EU businesses with at least ten staff used AI in 2025, up from 13.5 percent a year earlier. Denmark led with 42 percent, followed by Finland at 37.8 percent and Sweden at 35 percent. Romania was last at 5.2 percent, below Poland at 8.4 percent and Bulgaria at 8.5 percent.
For many small advertisers in the lower group, the assistant inside an ad console may be the first AI tool they use at work. Agencies already expect a shift. In Germany, media agencies told the digital industry association BVDW they think AI advertising will pass search within five years.
The next dates come from Amazon. DVA+ moves to an open test in late October, and the 35-market rollout is due in the first quarter of 2027. When Amazon names those markets, European advertisers will learn whether its most hands-off campaign tools reach them at all.
