Accenture said on 8 September 2026 that Emma Chalwin becomes its chief marketing officer on 1 October. The announcement comes from the company’s own newsroom. She reports to Julie Sweet, Accenture’s chair and chief executive.

She arrives from Workday, where she held the same title

Chalwin was chief marketing officer at Workday. Before that she held senior marketing roles at Salesforce, Adobe, McAfee and Macrovision, across more than 30 years in the field. Marketing Chief reports that the Accenture role had been open since December 2025, when Jill Kramer left for Mastercard.

The brief is growth, not brand-building for its own sake

Sweet described Chalwin in the release as “a proven growth leader” who turns new technology into commercial impact. Chalwin said the job is a chance to shape “Accenture’s next chapter of reinvention”, naming market influence, demand and client relationships as the areas she will work on. Both sentences point at pipeline rather than awareness.

The marketing she inherits sits behind a 70 billion dollar business

Accenture reported roughly 70 billion dollars of revenue in its 2025 financial year, about 9,000 clients and some 799,000 employees. Marketing at that scale is mostly business-to-business demand generation across dozens of industries, which is the work Chalwin did at Workday and Salesforce.

Another senior marketing seat changes hands in September

The month has been busy at the top of the function. Hilton’s Mark Weinstein left after 16 years, and Boston Beer hired Allison Stransky from Samsung. Two of the three moves take a marketer out of technology and into a different category; Accenture’s goes the other way.

From 1 October the reporting line runs straight to the chief executive

That is the date the job starts and the detail that matters most. Chalwin reports to Sweet, not to a sales or communications chief, which places marketing next to the commercial agenda rather than beneath it. The first test will be Accenture’s next set of results after she takes the seat.
