AXA said on 8 September 2026 that it has signed Publicis Sapient to scale its Global AI Hub across the group. According to the insurer’s own announcement, the first version of the platform was delivered in July 2026 and now runs in five AXA entities.

Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK and AXA XL run it first

AXA lists those five as the entities building use cases on the hub today. The company describes the platform as vendor-agnostic, meaning it is not tied to one AI supplier. AXA says the hub is where AI projects move from an idea to something running in production, with governance, security and human oversight attached. Those claims come from the insurer, not from an outside audit.

Motor claims and customer emails are the first jobs on the list

The named use cases are narrow and unglamorous: handling motor claims, processing customer emails and managing internal knowledge. That is the useful detail for anyone selling AI work. The money is going to back-office throughput, not to campaign creative.

Publicis is selling plumbing to a client it already advertises for

Publicis Sapient is the technology and consulting arm of Publicis Groupe. Matthieu Caillat, AXA’s group chief technology and AI officer, framed the deal around keeping “the governance required in a regulated business”. David Murphy, who runs financial services for Publicis Sapient in EMEA and APAC, said enterprise AI works best when industry knowledge sits next to engineering. Both quotes come from the joint release.

Why holding companies chase this work instead of campaigns

Deals like this pay on transformation budgets, not on media commissions, and they last longer than a pitch cycle. That matters when headcount is under review across the sector: WPP is cutting up to 1,000 more roles this year. It also sits alongside the traditional wins that still move revenue, such as PepsiCo moving global media to Publicis. For marketers at large advertisers, the practical read is that your agency group may now be pitching your IT department as well as your brand team.
