Nielsen counted €2.39 billion of gross ad spend in Germany in August, up 0.9%. Online rose 14.7% while TV fell 4.9%.

Nielsen figures for August put TVN's main channel ahead of TVP1 and Polsat. TVN24 is again the top news channel, and TV Republika has lost more than a quarter of its viewers in a year.

A Gracenote survey of 3,000 viewers in six countries found that 26% often cannot tell which service is showing a match. That rises to 36% among people aged 18 to 34, and 85% want the answer on their TV home screen.

Nielsen has changed four things in the way it measures local television before the 2026-27 season. The main change counts viewing after one minute instead of five, which Nielsen says brings back up to 24% of viewing moments.
