Google turned on AI Mode monitoring for every Search user worldwide on 28 September. Until then the feature sat behind the paid Ultra and Pro plans.

A randomised experiment with 1,100 searchers found Google's AI Mode cut click-through rates to websites by 18.8 percentage points, while trust in what people read fell too.

Google said on 16 September that AI performance insights are now broadly available in Merchant Center in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and the United States.

Google's John Mueller said on 10 September that Search Console cannot map the old position 1 to 10 scale onto AI search results in a way that helps site owners.

Google has added Gemini 3.8 Flash to AI Mode in Search. It is the third Flash model from Google in about six weeks.

Every website can now see in Search Console how often it appears in Google AI answers, and can switch itself out of them. The report still does not show clicks.
