Ryan Roslansky, the Microsoft executive vice president in charge of LinkedIn and Microsoft 365, is leaving the company. Microsoft announced the move on its official blog on 1 October. He will stay on as an adviser until the end of the calendar year.
Roslansky joined LinkedIn in 2009 to run product, GeekWire reports. He became LinkedIn’s CEO in 2020. In 2025 he took on Microsoft’s Office business as well. Microsoft’s post puts his time with the company at nearly 18 years.
Roslansky did not want to work in Redmond every day
In a note published by Microsoft, Roslansky said the expanded job would need him “in Redmond full time, every day”. His family lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he said he would not move them. Satya Nadella thanked him and praised his “clarity of thinking”, according to GeekWire.
Charles Lamanna and Jacob Andreou take over his teams
Microsoft split Roslansky’s group between two leaders. Sumit Chauhan and Lan Ye now report to Charles Lamanna. Jon Friedman now reports to Jacob Andreou. Dan Shapero, who became LinkedIn CEO in April 2026, stays in that job and reports to Nadella. So does Mohak Shroff.
The exit came in the same week as another senior departure. Peter Lee, who led Microsoft Research for more than 16 years, also said he would leave.
LinkedIn data shows B2B buyers search for 124 days
LinkedIn matters to B2B marketers as both an ad channel and a research source. Its own data shows that B2B buyers start looking 124 days before the first sales call. The platform has also been building tools for creators, such as Creator Discovery for B2B brands.
For LinkedIn advertisers the key reporting line does not move. Shapero keeps running LinkedIn and answers to Nadella, while Roslansky advises until 31 December and then leaves.
