GTA VI ads ran on the pitchside LED boards at Spotify Camp Nou during El Clásico on 25 October, between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Spanish gaming site Vandal and India’s Beebom reported. The boards showed the game’s logo and the line “Coming November 19”. Vandal called it the first large GTA VI campaign in Spain.
Rockstar’s GTA VI spot aired twice in NBC’s NBA opener
The football boards came five days after the first TV sighting. On 20 October, viewers recorded a GTA VI spot during NBC’s coverage of the NBA season opener between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Martin Cid Magazine, which pulled together fan clips and reports from Kotaku and RockstarINTEL, said it ran at least twice in that game. Kotaku reported a similar version during two other games that night.
The spot is a cut-down of the launch trailer Rockstar posted on 15 October. The broadcast version drops a shower kiss and a short shot of an ankle monitor. It keeps the guns, the robberies and the car chases. Rockstar has not announced a TV campaign and has not explained the edits.
The GTA VI end card shows only the PlayStation logo
The game comes out on 19 November on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same day. Yet the TV spot ends with the PlayStation logo alone, Martin Cid reported, citing TalkEsport and TheGamer. Neither Rockstar nor Sony has confirmed a joint marketing deal. The game has pulled audiences to other platforms before: a GTA VI preview on Netflix brought the streamer more than 100,000 US sign-ups in one day.
Miami Heat stages a Vice City night on 18 November
In-game fast food brands Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell have already appeared at the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat, Beebom reported. The team will host “A Night in Vice City” at its game against the Milwaukee Bucks on 18 November, one day before launch. Live sport is also where the big platforms compete hardest: Netflix, Amazon and YouTube formed a lobby as sports moved behind paywalls.
The next fixed dates are 18 November in Miami and the release on 19 November. Media buyers booking NBA and LaLiga breaks for mid-November may find a publisher that has already shown it will pay for live sport.
