Disney licenses Percy Jackson and Ice Age to Netflix. Both arrive worldwide on 4 October

Disney will put part of its film and series catalogue on Netflix, Reuters reported on 2 October. The first titles go live worldwide on 4 October: two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all five Ice Age films. Both stay on Netflix for three months.

Percy Jackson leaves Disney+ weeks before season 3

The deal is not exclusive. Every title stays on Disney+ and Hulu as well. Variety reported, as cited by ComingSoon, that the Percy Jackson window on Netflix runs out before season 3 premieres on Disney+ on 20 November. Will Trent, seasons 1 to 4, follows on Netflix on 3 November.

The Ice Age window comes before a new film, Ice Age: Boiling Point, which opens in cinemas in early 2027. Older shows such as Felicity, Revenge, Army Wives and Fresh Off the Boat are in the package too, but not in every country.

Soul, Elio and Raya reach Netflix in early 2027

Three animated films come later: Pixar’s Soul and Elio and Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon. They arrive in early 2027, with dates that vary by region. Reuters reporters Akash Sriram and Angela Christy place the deal in a wider Netflix push for licensed shows. In July 2026 Netflix took The Walking Dead series from AMC Global Media.

Disney+ is changing how it earns money from its catalogue

The licence comes in a busy year for Disney’s own service. Disney+ has already opened every plan to advertising, and in France it signed a content deal with M6. Netflix, for its part, is taking its cheaper ad plan to nine more European countries.

The timing shows what Disney wants from the deal. Netflix viewers can watch two seasons of Percy Jackson until early November. Season 3 then starts only on Disney+ on 20 November. Will the Netflix window send new viewers to Disney+, or keep them on Netflix for the next licensed show? The first sign comes with the season 3 launch.
