YouTube and Goldenvoice extended their exclusive Coachella livestream deal to 2030. Lyor Cohen, YouTube’s global head of music, set it out on 23 September. By April 2027 the festival will have streamed on YouTube for 15 years.
Lyor Cohen says the 2026 stream set a concurrent-viewer record
Cohen wrote that this year’s Coachella drew the largest audience watching at the same moment in the festival’s YouTube history. YouTube did not publish the number. Net Influencer reported that more than half of all watch time came from living room devices. A living room screen is bought as television, not as mobile.
Seven stages run at once and four of them in 4K
The deal covers global rights to both weekends. Viewers get seven stages at the same time, with 4K on the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Sahara and Quasar. Multiview shows up to four stages together and lets the viewer switch the audio. A round-the-clock Coachella channel carries older sets and highlights.
Merchandise, artist Shorts and creator shows sit on the same page
Backstage Shorts from artists, creator watch-along streams and merchandise for sale all run next to the live feed. YouTube also lists conversational AI tools in its TV app. For a brand, that means the stream, the shop and the creator commentary share one surface. YouTube has been pushing that mix elsewhere too, from editing Shorts by typing to a chat agent inside YouTube ads.
Two names gain from this. Goldenvoice gets one feed that reaches phones and living rooms, and YouTube keeps a record-setting live audience off rival services until 2030. Rival streamers lose access to an event whose viewers now sit mostly in front of a television, a shift visible in survey data on UK TV owners. Artists and labels sit in between, because their merchandise now lives on the same page as the set.
